COATINGS & LININGS

High-performance fluoropolymer and barrier coating services

Built around your application.

ACS applies industrial fluoropolymer coatings including Teflon systems, PTFE, PFA, Tefzel ETFE, Halar ECTFE and Kynar PVDF, plus PVC and epoxy polymers. Bring us your specified coating or the chemical exposure, temperature and finish requirements for application review.

Batch oven

Individual components and larger industrial parts.

High-speed line oven

Coordinated processing for recurring production.

Part size capacity

Parts up to 196 inches long by 74 inches in diameter. For longer parts, please call.

COATING SYSTEMS

Coating systems

Each coating family serves different requirements. Chemical exposure, temperature and film thickness guide selection.

Fluoropolymers

For chemical resistance and release applications.

Systems & uses

PTFE, PFA, ETFE, ECTFE and PVDF.

Teflon, Tefzel, Halar and Kynar systems.

Typical parts include vessels, pipe spools and agitators, plus surfaces where sticking or cleanup is a concern.

What matters for your part

Chemical compatibility, operating temperature, release requirements and coating thickness.

PVC

A protective plastic layer for metal components.

Common uses

  • Process components exposed to compatible chemicals.
  • Handling fixtures requiring abrasion or impact protection.

What matters for your part

PVC formulation, coating thickness and operating temperature.

Epoxy polymers

An adherent barrier against corrosion, chemical exposure and wear.

Common uses

  • Pipe spools and vessels.
  • Industrial components requiring barrier protection.
  • Immersion service with an epoxy rated for the exposure.

Potable-water applications

Epoxy systems can be used when the selected coating is certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 for the intended use.

What matters for your part

Chemical type, concentration and operating temperature.

MATERIAL SELECTION

Compare Halar, PFA, Kynar and Tefzel coatings

Selection considerations for specified industrial coating systems
MaterialSelection focusInclude in your RFQ
Halar ECTFEChemical and permeation resistance combined with mechanical durability.Chemical mixture, vapor or immersion exposure, temperature and coating access.
PFAMelt-fused nonporous films for specified chemical-protection systems. Purity depends on the grade and process.Product grade, purity criteria, temperature, thickness and acceptance requirements.
Kynar PVDFResistance to many acids and process chemicals; grade and exposure conditions determine suitability.Concentration, temperature, alkali exposure and exact coating grade.
Tefzel ETFEChemical protection and abrasion resistance in suitable coating systems.Wear conditions, solids, chemistry, temperature and dimensional tolerances.

These are selection considerations, not interchangeable specifications. Finished coating performance depends on the product grade, preparation, application, geometry and service conditions.

PTFE for release and low friction

Industrial PTFE release coatings address sticking, buildup and friction. A release coating should not automatically replace an immersion barrier lining. Teflon names a product family; provide the resin and product number on your drawing.

SPECIFICATIONS & INSPECTION

Define the exposure and acceptance criteria

Chemical service

For hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid, wet chlorine or caustic service, supply concentration, mixtures, normal and upset temperatures, pressure or vacuum and cleaning conditions. ACS reviews the selected system before confirming scope.

Preparation and coating build

Include the required preparation standard, anchor profile and minimum and maximum thickness. SSPC-SP 10 / NACE No. 2 addresses near-white metal blast cleaning; the profile must also match the coating system.

Holiday testing and documentation

If your specification calls for ASTM D5162 or NACE SP0188, provide its revision, test coverage and acceptance criteria. ACS confirms the inspection scope before accepting the order. Test voltage depends on thickness and the applicable procedure; a higher voltage is not automatically a better test.

Holiday testing detects discontinuities under the test conditions. It does not establish zero chemical permeation or unlimited service life.

Common questions

Can I request a coating by brand or resin type?

Yes. Include the brand, resin designation, product grade and specification revision when available. Halar is ECTFE, Kynar is PVDF and Tefzel is ETFE. Teflon describes a family of fluoropolymer products, so the product or resin designation helps define the required system.

What information is needed to choose a protective coating?

Provide the substrate, part dimensions, chemicals and concentrations, operating temperature, desired thickness and any release or abrasion requirements. ACS reviews the application before confirming the coating system.
