Is Halar the same material as Tefzel?
No. Halar is ECTFE; Tefzel is ETFE. A substitution requires review of the specific exposure, product grade and customer specification.
Discuss a projectINDUSTRIAL FLUOROPOLYMER COATINGS
Halar is an ECTFE fluoropolymer used for chemical and corrosion protection. ACS applies Halar coating systems to industrial parts with the product grade, surface preparation and acceptance criteria defined for the job.
For a chemical-service inquiry, include the chemical identity, concentration, temperature and whether exposure is continuous, intermittent or immersion. Those conditions guide review of the specified ECTFE grade and coating system.
Include the required coating thickness, coated areas, access constraints and inspection specification. Spark testing and other acceptance checks are established for the selected system and project requirements.
Individual components and larger industrial parts.
Processing options reviewed for recurring production.
Polymer coating capacity up to 196 inches long by 74 inches in diameter. Call about longer parts and material-specific processing.
APPLICATION REVIEW
Halar ECTFE combines chemical and permeation resistance with mechanical durability. Discuss chemical duct components, tank surfaces and other process equipment with ACS; the actual exposure and specified grade determine the review.
For chlorine exposure, identify wet or dry conditions, concentration and temperature. Include weld quality, access and thickness requirements.
Identify any existing coating to remove, substrate damage, masked features and the required completion date. Inspection and processing commitments are confirmed for the job.

Send the drawing, substrate, dimensions, quantity, coating product, required thickness, masked areas, service conditions, inspection requirements and deadline. Identify any existing finish that needs removal.
Tell ACS which material is specified and what your part needs. We will review the application, processing scope and schedule.
